With the  summer  weather  slow to start it makes one think that the only chance to wear our soft floaty summer fabrics will be to head  south by boat or plane or train!

However, there is one fabric that is easy to wear no matter what the weather – silk . Cool in summer warm in winter,  a natural fabric that comes in many qualities.  It can be weighty draping in rich folds or stiff and crisp making a delicious rustle when worn or as light as a feather and  seeming to just float over the body.   We are offering a one day workshop for intermediate sewers,  full of tips and techniques on working with silk and the very fabric that goes so well with silk , lace.  You will be supplied with silk and lace for sampling techniques and finishing and a length of  silk and lace to make a garment .  This workshop needs to be booked ,  online or at the studio,  your choice of garment and shade of silk can then be ordered in advance of the workshop.  We at SOS are really looking forward to this workshop as we are very much addicted to silk!

We are busy updating the website with our new workshops, however you can see the complete list here in the meantime…

We are very happy to be allowing the SOS studio to be used by the secret Drawing Club once a month on a Friday this is a taught session with Tutor Nick Hughes and is proving very popular. Do check out the Club’s website and if this is for you or maybe some one you know might enjoy this it is bookable through the School of Stitch website.

The pattern cutting 4 day weekend on the 15th/16th/17th/18th July is getting booked up with two places remaining so do ring through to SOS or book on line to secure a place.  If you are planning to stay over for the weekend accommodation can still be booked at Evegate Manor CLICK HERE TO BOOK >>>

We are also enjoying ‘The Great British  Sewing bee’ and feel really inspired to buy some stretch lace and make  a bra so  wondering if this should be a workshop?

We are also happy to run sewing events for a group of friends or colleagues.  Please contact us if you would like  to arrange a session to complete  a sewing project as a group with guided tuition.
